The Best Page in the Universe has left its four-month slumber for a rant against Sony. His hatred seems to come from Sony's lawsuit that led to the closure of Lik-Sang. Here's what he has to say: "Sony is suing to prevent people from selling PSPs? Great move, morons! Because if there's anything Sony needs right now, it's fewer people buying PSPs."
In typical Maddox fashion, he has nothing kind to say about Sony and its PSP. "Sony would love nothing more than to see you and your family suffer. Sony is like that psycho-ex who you had a few good times with, but was too clingy and the sex got boring. Now it's over and Sony is still stewing about it by leaving you voice mail asking for another chance and promising it "can change."
Feel free to send your hate mail to: maddox@xmission.com. Or, buy his book.

I tend to agree with this guy actually. I do enjoy my PSP (although it IS overpriced and fragile for a portable) and I love my PS2 (though considering how many friends had problems, I waited for the slim) but Sony's treatment of it's consumers is at times outrageously incompetent and at others downright patronizing.
This whole Lik Sang thing pushed me over the edge too. LS was a company that provided a great service to consumers by selling things you things you couldn't get at an EB or even Chinatown. It's a testament to the imbalance here that Lik Sang wasn't ripping off European consumers as much as Sony wanted to but Sony should've released the PSP worldwide, or at least close enough that European consumers wouldn't have felt they depended on Lik Sang.

Sony was dead to me with the root kit, it was the final straw. Then they killed the PSP keyboard it was the final final straw. Then they killed Lik-sang that was the final final final straw. I will never buy another sony product again. And lets just say I spend more a year on technology then I made in 1995. SMD. (Sony must die) RIP Lik-Sang

To be honest, I actually read his entire rant. I guess everyone needs their 15 minutes. But next time lets hope it's expressed a little less crudely.
What a waste of time.

I'd never heard about this guy - or his website - before now. I couldn't care less.
Sony wasn't the first to sue and prevent Lik Sang from selling things - Nintendo blasted them for their flash linkers and knockoff hardware years ago, and Sega prevented them from selling the portable knockoff 'T'reamcast through injunction. Sony's lawsuit was ridiculous, however. The notion that you can't sell a product to a secondary market after you purchase it is laughable. And right - the last thing Sony would want was more PSP units sold, it seems.
But the PSP isn't fragile or overpriced, and there may well be a Logitech keyboard coming (see past news here), so not all the whining is valid in this case.

I think its great that maddox favors games like cooking mama and nintendogs, although it is a little ironic when you think about his sites overall "manly" theme.

Hey Gonzo, Sony didnt sue Lik-Sang because they sold japan only items, they sued lik sang because lik sang undermined sonys abililty too make money by selling the psp at a price point which didnt match sonys calculations as too which price point would result in the most favorable apadaption/games attach ratio.
The PSP is sold at and artificially low price all over the world, some places lower than others. If sonys cant earn money through game sales they would cease to exist. Lik Sang was damagins sonys ability too make a profit, show me one company that wouldnt react on that.

Skarface, I don't get it. What were you trying to do with that? It was practically unreadable. Were you trying to poke fun at maddox's use of curse-words? could you explain it please?
And zjoe; maddox is the closest thing the internet has to a true celebrity, using the term 15 minutes implies that he's some nobody trying to get fame by bashing sony. The best-selling book he just penned and the hours-long wait in line for him to sign said book proves he'll stay in the limelight for a bit more then 15 minutes.

Lol, Microsoft treated me like crap when they couldn't help me sort out my first XP I payed good money for. They left the whole thing up to me to go out and buy a new one, should I run around with a pitch fork like all the complete gaming fanboy idiots out there shouting,
"DEATH TO MICROSOFT! MAY THEY ROT IN HELL! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A MICROSOFT PRODUCT AGAIN!" Nah, I'm not that sad like some of these fanboyous loosers with no love life, lol, I just moan a little and get on with it.
Serves Lik Sang right, don't do law breaking and you'll be just fine.
If I beat someone up and end up in prison, I'll make sure my family burns thier house down, lmao.

The world we live in is made up of laws. Without laws, we would live in chaos.
Sony had full right to press charges against Lik-Sang. Sony politely asked them to cease sales, Lik-Sang ignored and continued. THEN, Sony sues.
Maybe GTA is influentual, since people just don't seem to care about laws.

Guys, calm down. This was simply not worth posting. He has ALWAYS been a hardcore Nintendo fan: he's posted a review of (the awesome) Ikaruga for gamecube and has mentioned his GBA more than once. He's NEVER had anything "kind to say" about nintendo's competitors- just see his xbox review. What's up with the total lack of humor in his rant though? the xbox review had me laughing my ass off. Hope he hasn't lost his touch.

Colin,
Then I adjust my estimate slightly upwards to a mere 22 minutes of fame.
If Maddox's fame is based upon simplistic logic leaps and broad overgeneralaztions, I guess he fits perfectly amounst every other mundane hack with an opinion -- much like myself.
As stated before, a total waste of time.

Hey Austin, that's what I thought too after reading it - how come it wasn't funny? I get the feeling his celebrity status has gone to his head and he's started taking himself seriously. I actually bought his book for my bro's birthday and that was kinda lame too.

I agree with ninja 100%.
The society are ruled by _laws_. You may not like laws, but this is YOUR personal problem. I for example want to be able to roll joints openly in public. However, I am not running around all pissy about some restorant that kicked me out for smoking joint. They just follow the law, if you change that law - they will follow.
In case of this Lik Sing according to the LAW of the country Sony was right and Lik Sing was conducting ILLIGTAL busdiness. If you desagree - complain to your pathetically corrupted government, not to Sony.
Anyway, this all just prove how amazingly stupid the general population is. I have to live surrounded by morons, such as those two clowns Gonzo and Nihls who commented above. But you do not see me complaining about it!

I have a problem with all the comments where people say 'its the law, so it must be right...'. The problem with that logic is that the law is not static it changes. what was one day illegal can be legal the next. i hate to use the example of slavery but it is the most potent. used to be legal (clearly shoudn't have been, but was) and why, because those with the power, means, money and opportunity have malciously manipulated, influenced and lobbied for change (or minor tweaks) to the laws that benefit them while penalizing us. take DRM's. perhaps the best example of how the industry has manipulated the law to serve their own interests.
