The retro games just keep on coming. Mere moments after Tetris and Pong successfully appeared on the platform, homebrewers have crafted Tron for your enjoyment. Once again, it's fairly easy to install and launch: download the file and then place it in your PSP's PHOTO folder. Some users have expressed some problems with launching homebrew on their 2.80 firmware PSPs. Do you by any chance have TA-82 PSPs? I don't think it should interfere, but it's strange to notice the problems people seem to be having.[Via PSP 3D]

It's interesting. It's not TA-82 since I don't have one and I have issues with the homebrew. 2.80 firmware. I'm not quite sure what it is yet, since tron worked fine but both tetris and pong refuse to run. You see it flashing reading off the memorystick, but it doesn't boot and require turning off/on again.
Very strange. Not completely exploited yet it seems, but it's definitely fun to try.

I had a few initial problems when it came to running Pong and Tetris though I found that if before you boot into it (using Start instead of the X button) you should wait a little bit. More often than not, it works fine if you idle for a few seconds in the Photo folder.

So you can only have one homebrew game on at a time, correct?

@5 no you can have as many different homebrew as you want, just put them in their own folder with an icon(make sure you copy the icon last*). Now you can pick any homebrew or even browse your photos.
*the icon is used for the 'folder icon' so the homebrew wont auto start, every time you open your photos.

**************************************
* FOUND THE FIX *
**************************************
Decided to take a look at the differences with the games and FOUND THE FIX. OKAY BOYS AND GIRLS... here it is.
The reason why snake and tron work on all PSPs, but the rest don't is:
the icon is saved as jpg, and not png.
The good thing is that now the game WILL RUN. The bad thing is that even with Yashamaru's part on how to make it not autostart, I tried every combination of copying and it didn't help it. I'm not sure why that is and I don't have too much time to debug it. It should be a lot easier for the game coders to fix though now.

If you didn't understand the above. save the jpg, as a png in your trusty old graphics editor.

Bleh. Ran through a couple tests with the png. Depending on the order, I either get it to crash (like the beginning) or it autostarts when the browser scrolls through it.
No more time to test. Up to you guys. Get the word out to the developers and they'll probably fix it in a jiffy.

i find (and i know this sounds wierd) but if you turn the sound down to about a quarter of the way up, then tetris and pong will run it works for me on 2.8, just try it, now for tron

Wow
A homebrew game I'm interested in playing. Using the psp to play pong, snake, and tetris seems like a disservice to the hardware. It's not like you can make phone calls with the thing.
