Late last week, a story emerged about a possible PSP price cut being planned for this holiday in an attempt to jumpstart sales for Sony's handheld system. But according to a Sony UK spokesperson, a price cut is not currently being planned."Currently, we have no plans to cut the price of the PSP at this time," the spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz. The reason for the belief of a pending price cut comes from Sony "stockpiling finished gaming hardware, which analysts believe to be the PSP (PlayStation Portable). That, they believe, is a signal that the company plans to reduce the price of the PSP as the holidays get closer."
In speaking with CNN's Chris Morris, P.J.McNealy of American Technology Research said he expects Sony to cut the PSP by $50 or bundle the system with a couple games.
Keep in mind, however, this doesn't mean a price cut isn't on the horizon. Many times video game companies refute similar stories only to go back on their word weeks later.

I think they'll cut the price. $150, White PSP release in US, bundled with GTA Vice City Stories before Christmas..
That'd sell well...

I would buy a white PSP, even if it was $199. My 2 year old JP model is holding up OK, but I'd like to cash in on a few discounted UMD films. That, and have some multiplayer with the girlfriend.
Sony really needs to push the white and maybe other colors -- So far the lack of E3 2004 hardware coloring has been pretty disappointing. Remember yellow, silver striped, etc.? I do, I saw the suckers.
$150 plus a bunch of new colors and some good bundles would do wonders for sales in the US (and elsewhere).
