If you're into classic games like me, you're probably eagerly awaiting the Nintendo Wii's
Virtual Console feature so that you can play not only some Nintendo games, but some
Genesis games as well. For those of you Sony fanboys that'll avoid the Wii like its a smelly grandmother, there's finally an alternative:
Sega Genesis Collection, a compliation of
nearly thirty Genesis games is heading to the PSP. The disc will not only come loaded with the games, but exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. PSP owners can rejoice in knowing that an exclusive wireless multiplayer mode is being created just for them. Maybe it'll even support Game Sharing? (I hope so!) Here's the list of games:
- Alex Kidd
- Altered Beast
- Bonanza Bros.
- Columns
- Comix Zone
- Decap Attack
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Ecco: The Tides of Time
- Ecco Jr.
- Eternal Champions
- Flicky
- Gain Ground
- Golden Axe
- Golden Axe II
- Golden Axe III
- Phantasy Star II
- Phantasy Star III
- Phantasy Star IV
- Ristar
- Shadow Dancer: Secret of Shinobi
- Shinobi III
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- Super Thunderblade
- Sword of Vermillion
- Vectorman
- Vectorman 2
- Virtua Fighter 2
Whoa... out of breath just
reading that list.
Visit 1up to see details about all of these classics.

If Sega's made the effort to drag out all the IPs, you can bet that entire list will be replicated on the Virtual Console. Good news for Altered Beast fans who *are* getting the Wii!

Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anybody 30+ who was holding off on a PSP is gettin' one now. At 39.99 this collection would be a steal...heck at 49.99 this collection would be a steal. If they added Space Harrier or Thunderblade to this collection It'd be perfect.

I was unbelievably upset when the GBA version of phantasy star was released and PS4 wasn't included.. I'm incredibly joyed to see it in this incredible lineup. I love my PSP and I'm quite happy I invested in it...

Wow, some master system titles there too huh?
This will be a great game collection, especially for a portable.
Between Sonic, Phantasy Star, and Alex Kid (almost forgot about that giant handed RockPaperScissors playing twerp)I'm getting this one. I was so disappointed to find that Phantasy Star 4 was ommitted from the GBA Phantasy Star Collection (and they left in 3: generations of apethy) that alone is enough of a reason for me to pick this up. And the best of Sonic... I can smell the nostalgia already.

Oh Gawd Yes! This compilation disc will be ULTIMATE! Just Kidding, but I am looking forward to it. My only draw-back about this is that I hope Sony won't try to pull this sort of thing with our PSone games...

FANTASTIC! I hope they dont mess with any of these games like they did with Sega Ages 2500 titles. But overall this list is full of great games! A few missing for me are Revenge of Shinobi, I'd rather have that one than Shinobi III, and where is Streets of Rage!?
Come on NEC/Hudson, bring out a best of PC Engine to complement this. And Atari! Bring us some Arcade perfect classic!
What with Namco and Midway arcade classics already out (Well in Europe, don't know about USA), this one coming and who knows what else i'm not so sad I upgraded to 2.80!
I guess the only games we'll miss out on are Nintendo's lovely back catalogue...

One again, the Streets of Rage series is left off. Why is that? I loved those games back in the early '90's. I would kill to get that series on a collection on a UMD or on XBox Live Arcade! C'mon, Sega? Who do I hafta whack? LOL
