Man takes PSP addiction too far

An incident happened last Thursday night at a Myrtle Beach Blockbuster video where a man was seen shoving PSP games into his pants. With theft on his mind and in being approached by an employee of the rental store, he dashed out with reportedly up to 60 games, which come to a total worth of about $1,800, and escaped in a silver Mercury LeSabre bearing a rental car tag. At the time of the report, authorities had not captured the gentleman, and the story makes no mention of the suspect's face being caught on camera.

Sounds like he thought the games were over-priced as well.
I hope they catch him.

Umm I think the more important question here is WHEN DID WE HAVE 60 PSP GAMES?!?!
Much less over 3 that are even worth the theft. This man wasn't addicted. He just though psp and sony and how it would translate into cash. Atleast that's what he got from the image the psp and sony has given consumers.
Kudos the fantastic marketing by Sony.

Wow, fucktards took over our recently slowly-updating webblock. Now if wasn't for the few last lame articles released, you could even blame them.

i just thought it was funny that the guy escaped in a Mercury LeSabre.. since no such car exsists, they will have a hard time catching him.

Umm,... the story doesn't specify that they were 60 different games,... just 60 games. You know, they do make more than one copy of the same title.

You can't rent a car for a heist like that, you have to steal one.
Mostly I feel bad for this idiot because he stole a bunch of used psp games. What the hell is he going to do with them?

Poor PSP Fanboy staff. They bring us news and articles and all we ever do is critisize them.
The bastards.

Brian,
Newsflash: look at the very bottom of this page, there are posts from other blogs on the Weblogs, Inc. Network.
I'm not a WOW fanboy, but I'll read an article if it seems interesting.
BTW PSP is terrible. Nice load times. My dump is over and done with by the time I can get into a game.
Hehe

People who troll blogs just to post hate = amusing.
People who say there aren't any good PSP games = hilarious.
People spreading BS about something they don't own = priceless.

I was on a plane last night watching a UMD for two hours then playing about about 15 min of Lumines. My battery was still on full charge when I got off the plane. I've played about two games with long loading times, but nothing more than any other console games (actual 3D environment games do take a little longer to load than a brain age or some card strategy game). Also, The PSP has over 22 games rated 80% or higher on Gamerankings.com (versus 21 for the DS).
I heard Nintendo's next DS game will just be first grade japanese homework assignments. DS fanboys better start saving their allowances.

Thanks for the research, Player 1... Metacritic is even more bleak for the DS: 24 games rated 80+ (22 when you figure Nintendogs as one game), while the PSP has 29. 80+.
"Oh, but teh PORTS!"
OK, well how many of the Metacritic 80+ DS games are ports or sequels/remakes? Let's see, I'll omit games with all-new content that are based on old gameplay concepts or characters like Sonic Rush and WarioWare. We still get: Bleach, Age of Empires, Tony Hawk, Tetris, Super Mario Bros, Animal Crossing, Advance Wars, Mario Kart & Mario 64. Yes, most of these games have at least some new content, but DS fans don't give the PSP ports and sequels any credit for that, so why should we? And that's not counting all the myriad lesser-rated titles that are also ports or blatant milking of old franchises.
Speaking of originality and innovation, of these 22 80+ games, how many really utilize the DS touchscreen to a solid gameplay experience you couldn't replicate on a console or PSP? I count *maybe* six.
And again, let me reiterate - I do like the DS and I enjoy many of the games on it, especially a few I've picked up recently. My DS gets a lot of playtime, sometimes more than my PSP, sometimes not. But the Nintendo fanboy have got to shut down, if not in general forums where they run rampant with their holy anti-everything-non-ninty, then here, at least.

When you consider the relative pricing of each system, then you would expect quality titles. Sony equipment comes at a real premium - I expect to have a massive majority of quality games if I am to spend upwards of £100 extra on hardware. As it turns out, there are a huge amount of games on both systems which score highly, and the fact that the PSP (a machine financed by the biggest asian hardware company outside of Matsushita) has only 5 (count 'em!) games of 80+ more than a system whose games are £25 or less is actually a surprise.
Before anyone bites back with "It's a media player" or "it's an internet browser", I already have 2 each of those things. A television, an iPod, a Mac and a Nokia 770. What I bought a PSP for is gaming on the move. With a 2 hr battery life (on graphics hungry games) I can barely keep in running on an average plane ride.

And your bashing of the DS games quality is different, how? You should honestly check out any one of a million Nintendo sites, or even normal gaming forums. Very fw people who like the DS actually "run rampant" with fanboyism. They have usually played or owned both systems, and chosen which they like more. PSP owners, in general, have had less experience with other consoles. Of the 17 people that I know own a PSP, only 3 have a DS or console other than a playstation, or PC.
