Apparently kids are getting together at schools and using their PSPs to access pornography "out of thin air." Based on the article, this was what a Minnesota resident by the name of Jeff Harris was doing, which garnished him with a grounding of a month and an in-school suspension. Supposedly, the kid used his PSP to tap into the school's wireless Internet access and then surfed some adult websites, boasting to his friends, no doubt, that his "haxxoring" was "teh l33tn3ss".
Never mind that the school didn't have a WEP Key enabled network or that they're apparently fine with students bringing in distracting electronics period. Still, I guess everyone has a point, it's not like he was using his PSP for normal purposes like running over pedestrians and beating people to death in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
[Update: Took out the part about the hookers. Slight oversight on my part, I apologize.]

Sheer stupidity. Violence? A-OK! Naked people? OH NOEZ! SUSPENSION! PUNISHMENT! BAD! BAD!
Anyway, you can't pick up hookers in GTA:LCS. See, same thing - running people over is just fine, but sex with a hooker needs to be pulled from the game to keep them from being sued by parents. Ugh.
No wonder violent rap and other trash is so popular these days, and kids don't care when they see or hear about death or other violence in the news. Kids have already seen more blood and guts by age 15 than some war vets. Meanwhile, we even debate sex education.
Bah. America sucks.

roflmao! I agree with about everyone's comments so far:
Why is sex so ta-bu compared to violence? Which of the two are more natural? Seems Politicians and Regligous Freaks (not to offend) think blood is more natural.
If the school is incapable of filtering out Adult Content at their Firewall - maybe they should hire a new Network Admin. Like JAMES said:

Why the hell did the school district not filter it, at my high school everything is filtered through the school district so even if you connect to the wireless connection (Which I have done with my PSP quite a few times) it still would never let you access sites blocked by the district.

This isn't problem of Sony. It's school's problem, that it grants access to wireless internet. Smart kids always will find a hole in a security system

I think the parents need to look at what the kids are looking at and talk to them at an early age about sex, like 14 or 15. if not we have kids getting it from anyplace they can. I mean how many of us looked at porn when we were 16 or 17. heck i lost my v-card at 16 and im 19 now. god forbid that the kid try to learn from someplace besides their parents!!!!!!!!!

There are plenty of games, especially lately - a fairly nice run of AA+ titles. Not good enough for you? Great! Go buy a DS. I have both, and I don't even have enough time for the games that I want to play, just on the PSP.
Anyway, the school should filter their net. Period. You can't blame a kid going through puberty for surfing porn if it's readily available.

One of the well touted features of the PSP is the ability to connect to the internet. Some kid accessing porn on an INTERNET ENABLED DEVICE is not an indication of a lack of games, or news at all. Try harder next time.

Nice! Nice! NICE! Keep it up, kids! Way to go! Well done! Nice job!
Parents who are too stupid to realize what their kids get up to shouldn't be going around having kids in the first place.

You CAN pick up hookers in GTA: LCS. I'm not sure what game poster #1 is playing, but this "feature" is certainly still in the GTA:LCS.

Well, the parents and sony are at fault here, sony should have a parental control option and the parents should not let them take there psps to school.
ps: it would of helped if the wep key was turned on!

No, the network sould not be encrypted. Students use Wi-fi these days to actually study. 26 character hexadecimal codes are a bit of a hassle for places which can have 2500+ kids. Should it be filtered? That's up to the school.
